The Athletic Department wanted to provide some highlights about how our Varsity Teams performed for our 24-25 Fall Season.
Volleyball
Region Player of the Year: Abbie Unruh
All-Region 1st Team: Ariana Amini, Roxy Mason, Abbie Unruh, Olivia Romesburg
All-Region 2nd Team: Susan McGinley, Hannah Fox
All-Region Honorable Mention: Micaela Dickens, Mikky Dunmar
Summary: We had another strong season that ended with us as Region Champs while also going undefeated against our Region Opponents. We made the playoffs again, continuing our impressive playoff appearance streak. With a great season under our belt, we had 2 All-Conference earners, starting with Abbie Unruh earning All-Conference 2nd team as a Hitter this year and Olivia Romesburg earning All-Conference Honorable Mention as a Setter.
Football
All-Region 1st Team: Aaron Crawford, Dymetri Olmedo
All-Region 2nd Team: Joey Busanni, Avery Hamler, James Heisler, Jackson Erwin, Malachi Madrid
All-Region Honorable Mention: Kody Dodson, Jack Leonhard, Mamoun Eltahir, Sam Webster
Summary: We finished 4-2 in our region and had multiple players voted for State Awards through different organizations. We finished the season on a 3-game win streak outscoring those 3 opponents combined 123-40. Another highlight is that Aaron Crawford broke the school record for receiving yards this year.
Swim
Season Highlight: Boys Swim 6th out of 30 in State
Season Highlight: Girls Swim 3rd out of 36 in State
Summary: We had the biggest state team in our program's history this year. This was our 2nd highest placement in girls swim history at CPA and our highest for boys. Throughout the season, between both teams, we set a total of 12 school records, including all 6 relay records. This was capped off with our 200m Freestyle Relay winning 1st place in the State Finals and multiple podium finishes for our Boys and Girls teams.
Cross Country
Season Highlight: Boys won 5th in State
Summary: For the first time in program history, we ran in the Woodbridge Classic, which is the largest XC meet in the country. We saw ALL 21 of our runners notch personal bests with most bringing home medals. This also concluded with Josef Iker winning 1st place in the Senior race that night. He also won again at Desert Twilight and won for a 3rd time at Sectionals. Junior, Gina Steenson also won her Sectionals race. In state this year, our Boys' team finished 5th, which was up from 13 the year prior. Josef Iker finished 2nd in State, Ricardo finished 13th, and Gina came away with 19th in State.
