Biography:
Athletic Background:
I swam on a club team for 6 years in Maryland before competing at NCAA D3 Grove City College for four years while majoring in mechanical engineering. I was a sprint freestyle and breaststroke specialist in college. I coached a summer league team in the summer of 2016 and also worked at Gold Medal Swim School for a little while teaching at CPA. This is my 3rd year as head varsity coach, but I have been coaching in some capacity at CPA since 2017.
Coaching Philosophy:
The fastest swimmers are the ones who are the most relaxed in the water. With only a short season for our athletes, we focus on getting swimmers comfortable in the most relaxed and efficient body positions in each stroke. We emphasize streamlines and turns to make the most impactful time drops in the short season.
CPA History:
I have taught physics at CPA since I graduated college in 2017. It turns out that those applied fluid mechanics classes in college were helpful for both physics and swimming!
Fun Facts:
1. I have seen every single one of Survivor’s 44 seasons. I’ve seen most seasons multiple times. I’m a little obsessed.
2. I was an athlete member on the Rules and Regulations committee for USA Swimming one year while I was in college.
3. I am engaged to my physics co-teacher, Mr. Amorose. He learned to do a flip-turn last summer! We are getting married at the end of April 2024.
