Biography:
Athletic Background & Coaching Experience:
A very long time ago, I played multiple sports at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati. After that, I played in competitive baseball or softball leagues most every year until I started coaching more than 15 years ago. At CPA specifically, that includes seasons coaching middle school softball and baseball, as well as varsity softball, varsity football and now just varsity baseball.
Coaching Style/Philosophy:
This year, our team motto is: Be Present, Be Persistent, Be Proper. Bigger picture, I'd say: "People don't care what you think until they think you care."
CPA History:
My 3 children, Tatum, Olivia & Reese, were scholar-athletes at CPA who made their mother and me very proud of their accomplishments.
3 Interesting Facts:
1. My primary sport in high school was wrestling, not baseball.
2. My first job in AZ was as a beat writer for the Arizona Cardinals and the ASU Basketball teams.
3. Sometimes after I figure out that I'm singing the lyric of a song wrong, I continue to sing it wrong because I like my lyric better.
Biography:
Athletic Background:
I was a 4 sport athlete playing Baseball, Football, Wrestling and Track. I was a Jiu-Jitsu world champion for 7 years straight. Muay Thai was another aspect of training I went through and went 5-1 as an amateur fighter. I ended up graduating from GCU with my BA in Sports Management. I also played Semi-Pro football.
Coaching Style:
I am a player's coach. I don't like to yell at a player to inspire them, I believe in understanding the player as a person and learning how to truly motivate and help individuals to push themselves.
CPA History:
I went to school here from 6th grade through graduation. I was an athlete at CPA and after graduation, I coached Middle School football, wrestling, track, and baseball. After a couple years, I made the move to high school coaching. Since, I have become the Strength & Conditioning Coach for the last 2 years, while still coaching High School sports.
3 Interesting Facts:
First, I have been in a car chase in high school. Interesting story that goes along with that, feel free to ask me anytime! Second, I compete in amateur golf tournaments. Lastly, I am very "outdoorsy", I love to go fishing and shooting.
